Golf NZ events, may be played concurrently

Home Links events are played at club courses with District and National Winners being determined from individual club results – ie there is no play-off at District/National level.

The District winners of each Home Links Competition will receive a District Button

Eligibility

Subject to any specific eligibility criteria for any individual event (see below) the Home Links Events are open to all women golfers holding an GNZ 18 hole handicap and who are Playing Members of a Member Club.

A player who is a Playing Member of more than one club must nominate the Club at which they will compete in the Home Links events.

Timing/Dates of Play

• All events are to be played on the home course of each affiliated club between opening day and the 31st May
• The dates of play for both weekday and weekend members are fixed by the club committee
• All events, except the Nancy MacCormick Memorial Foursomes, are played concurrently
  

Entry Fees

No entry fees may be charged for any Home Links event

Club Winners

Each Club will determine the winner (and ties) for each event, complete the Club Home Links Result Sheet provided by Golf NZ, and send it, together with the original score cards of the winners (and ties) to reach Golf Wellington by the date specified on the Results Sheet (normally in early June).

Scorecards submitted must:

• Be original scorecards;
• Show the event for which they are submitted;
• Show the women’s GNZ Course Rating and the GNZ Slope Rating for the course played
• Show the player’s Handicap Index and Course Handicap
• Be signed by both the player and the marker
• Be certified as correct by the Club

District Winners

Golf Wellington will determine the District Winners and complete the District Home Links Result Sheet provided by GNZ and send it, together with the original scorecards of the winners (and ties) to reach GNZ no later than the date specified on the result sheets.

National Winners

If a tie occurs at National Level, a further round will be played by the players involved in the tie, the date to be the first scheduled LGU Medal competition, or within one month after the player’s club receives notification that a play-off is necessary. Once established, this date cannot be altered. A player’s Handicap Index current on the play-off date will apply.

In the event of a further tie, the trophy will be awarded jointly.

Nancy McCormick Foursomes

Conditions

• The competition is a foursomes handicap stroke play, played over 36 holes on one day or two days within a four week period
• Players choose their own partners, and the pairs are then drawn at random to play together.
• The partners teeing order may be changed for the second 18 holes
• A pair’s net score for each 18 holes is determined by deducting half of their combined Course Handicaps.

District Winners

The winning pair will each receive a District Button.

Trophy

Nancy MacCormick was appointed Secretary of the NZLGU in 1932 and remained in that office until her death in 1952. In 1953 silver salvers were purchased to commemorate her long years of service and so began the Home Links foursomes competition.

Coronation Medal

Conditions

• Open to players in the Silver division only
• The competition is 18 hole handicap stroke play

Trophy

Aotearoa Cup

Conditions

• Open to players in the Silver and Bronze divisions
• The competition is 18 hole handicap stroke play
• The Silver and Bronze division players should be kept separate in the draw if possible

Trophy

Best Gross Cup

Conditions

• Open to players in the Silver and Bronze divisions
• The competition is 18 hole gross stroke play

Veteran’s Trophy

 Conditions

• Open to players in the Silver and Bronze divisions who are 70 years of age or over as at the date of the competition.
• The competition is 18 hole handicap stroke play

Home Links Junior Division

Conditions

• Open to playing Members of Member Clubs under 19 years of age on club opening day of the current year holding a GNZ Handicap. 
• There are two 18 hole events
• Junior Best Gross
• Junior Best Net
• Eligible scores must be returned in rounds played in March, April and May in a club, or LGU Medal competition at the Playing Member’s Home Club.
• The player’s date of birth must be recorded on the Home Links Results

National 9 Hole Home Links Competition

Conditions

• Open to all full playing members ( full playing member means a full atcive 9 hole member of a club) holding a GNZ handicap index.
• The 9 Hole Home Links Competition will be played over 3 rounds on the home course of each Member Club with 9 Hole members during the months of February March April and May. It is unnecessary to schedule one round in each of the three months but the dates of play must be fixed by the Committee

Club Winner

• The Club Winner is the person who returns the lowest aggregate of two net differentials.
• A player does not need to return more than two scores.
• The club will determine the winner and forward the results to Golf Wellington.

Home Pennants Stableford

Conditions

• Each Club stipulates 5 Home Pennants Stableford rounds across the months from March to August
• Scores from both mid week and weekend players are eligible but a player may not compete in the Home Pennant in both sections of the Club.
• The best six scores from each round are returned to Golf Wellington either on the form provided or in a similar format not later than seven days after the end of the month in which they were played.

Winners

The Home Pennants Shield is presented to the Club which returns the highest aggregate of points from the four best of the five rounds played, to be presented at the Champion of Champions event.

Country Home Pennants

Conditions

• Competed for by small clubs with fewer than 45 members.
• The same rules as for the Home Pennants Stableford apply except that three scores are returned for each round.

Winner

The Rototawai Shield is presented to the Club which returns the highest aggregate of points from the 4 best of the 5 rounds played, to be presented at the Champion of Champions event.

Greatest Handicap Reduction During Current Year – Thomson Trophy

Eligibility

Open to players with a handicap index on 1 February or who achieve that level subsequently.

Format

• Qualifying period for handicap reduction: 1 February to 30 September.
• Awarded annually – Clubs must submit the name of their entrant, together with starting and finishing handicap index details, to Golf Wellington on the form provided.

Winner

In the event of a tie the trophy shall be held jointly and each shall receive a District Button
