TOURNAMENT CONDITIONS

Entries close Thursday 10^th July 2014

1. Eligibility

  Players must be under 19 years of age on Monday 14^th July 2014 and must also comply with the entry requirements as listed in clause 3 Entries.

2. Format

a)      The Championship will be played over 36 holes of stroke play at the Manor Park Golf Sanctuary.

b)      In the event of a tie for the Championship, those players tied shall play off in a sudden death format on such holes as the Championship Committee select. This shall continue until a winner is determined. If for any reason this is not possible joint winners will be declared.

c)       If inclement weather or for any other reason the event is disrupted the Championship Committee may alter the format and the number of rounds played.

d)      The leading male and female based on Gross score, irrespective of age, will be overall winners of the Wellington Under 19 Championship

e)      A player may win an award in their age group category and the overall category.

3. Entries

 a)      Entries can be made online via the Wellington Golf website. If a competitor is unable to enter online then they must contact the Wellington Golf Inc. office

b)      The entry fee is $30.

c)       Wellington Golf or the Host Club reserve the right to refuse any entry without being required to give a reason for so refusing.

d)      Wellington Golf at its discretion may accept late entries

e)      Entrants must conform with the Rules of Amateur Status, as adopted by R&A Rules Ltd

f)       In the event of applications exceeding the number of places available in the field, players will be balloted out based on handicap with the highest handicap being excluded. Those unsuccessful will be informed without delay and given the opportunity to compete if withdrawals subsequently occur. Entry fees will be refunded to those entrants balloted out.

g)      Entry fees will only be refunded in the case of a withdrawal being advised before the closing date for entries, except for those entrants who may be balloted out and do not subsequently compete.

4. General Rules of Play

a)      The Rules of Play shall be the Rules of Golf as approved by R&A Rules Ltd, together with Local Rules as drawn up by the Championship Committee.

b)      Starting Times: Rule 6-3a provides; “The player must start at the time established by the Committee”. The penalty for a breach of Rule 6-3a is disqualification. However it is a condition of the Championship that, “If the player arrives at his starting point, ready to play, within five minutes of his starting time, the penalty for failure to start on time is two strokes in stroke play. Penalty for lateness beyond five minutes is disqualification.

c)       Golf Balls: It is a condition of the Championship that only those balls published in the current list of Conforming Golf Balls issued by the R & A may be used in the Championship. The penalty for the use of a brand not listed is disqualification.

d)      Driving Clubs: Any driver the player carries must have a clubhead, identified by model and loft, that is named on the current List if Conforming Driver Heads issued by R&A Rules Limited. Exception: A driver with a clubhead that was manufactured prior to 1999 is exempt from this condition.

e)      Motorised Vehicles: During play it is prohibited for a player to ride in or on a motorised vehicle, unless granted permission by the championship committee. Penalty 2 strokes in stroke play for each hole where a breach occurs. Maximum penalty per round 4 strokes. 

f)       Caddies are not permitted (except at the discretion of the committee.)

5. Championship Committee

a)      The Championship Committee shall comprise the Tournament Director and a WGI representative

b)      The Championship Committee will decide all disputes, will be responsible for all arrangements and may, if necessary, postpone any event or alter the order of events or starting times.

c)       In the absence of the full Championship Committee, such members as may be present at the time may give a decision and any decision so given shall be deemed to be a decision of the full Championship Committee.

d)      The Championship Committee’s decision on matters affecting the Championship shall be final.

e)      Any dispute or protest must be lodged in writing and submitted to the Championship Committee within fifteen (15) minutes of the conclusion of the day’s play.

f)       Wellington Golf and the Championship Committee reserve the right to refuse any entry without being required to give a reason for so refusing.
