Wellington Wins Stu Smith Memorial Trophy

Wellington have repeated their 2022 success at the annual quadrangular event for the Stu Smith Memorial trophy.

A strong start against Taranaki on Saturday morning, 6 - 2 was followed by the front of weather that had caused havoc across NZ,  pasiing through and depsite a couple of attempts at play, the afternoon round was abandoned.

This meant a good result against home team Manawatu/Wanganui on Sunday morning was required, with not having played the other Saturday winner Hawkes Bay. A  good 7 - 1 win over Man/Wang coupled with Hawkes Bay and Taranaki sharing a 4 all draw, was enough for Wellington to come away champions.

The Golf Wellington selection panel will now name the team to compete at the Freyberg National Interprovincial in early November. Full results under the reuslts TAB.
