WGI seeking Committee Members and course raters for 2016
At the Wellington Golf Inc. AGM (Thursday, 31 March 2016), we talked about the new Committee structure which we are going to utilise to help us take golf in Wellington to the next level.
We are pleased to announce that at our recent Board meeting we confirmed the Board members (& hence Chairs) of these Committees, and are now looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist us for the 2016 year.
The three committees, which operate in accordance with the WGI Constitution & the powers delegated to them by the WGI Board, are:-
- Match Committee - responsible for managing and controlling golf in the Wellington district
- Golf Development Committee - responsible for developing golf in the Wellington district
- Finance Committee - responsible for management and control of the WGI finances
The attached document provides a brief overview of each committee, what it's responsible for under the Constitution (summarised in the flowchart diagram), its composition and the proposed schedule of meeting dates.
Please be aware that in applying for any of the Committees, you will be asked to provide some background of your experience and skill sets that are consistent with the Committee areas of responsibility for which you are applying. You will also be asked to outline in your application, how you think you would add value to the Committee (with respect to each of the areas the Committee is responsible for) and how you would contribute to the long term development of golf in the Wellington district.
Applications can be made online using the WGI Committee Application form. Note, each application requires an endorsement from your Primary Club, including contact details of the person providing the endorsement.
Applications for Committee positions close at 4:00pm on Friday, 13th May 2016.
We would like to note, that where we receive multiple applications for particular committees from applicants that have similar skill sets, or are from similar representative groups (e.g. Junior Golf) - a selection process will be undertaken by the Board. Selection will be based on the relevant skill sets and experience the applicant has for the Committee to which they are applying. In addition, the Board will consider the perceived value the applicant would add to the Committee and its responsibilities to help it succeed in delivering against its annual objectives.
We are also seeking volunteers to assist with course rating in 2016. Please see the document below for further information on this work and the skills/time needed, and contact WGI at support@wgi.co.nz if you are interested in volunteering.
