Patrick Fitzgerald Receives WGI Life Membership
Long time Hutt Golf Club ( now Boulcott's Farm) member Patrick Fitzgerald has been bestowed with a Life Membership at WGI's 2018 AGM, held on Tuesday evening 27th March.
Nominated by Shandon's John Morgan and seconded by Royal Wellington's John Spraggs, Patrick an administrator of note, was recognised for many years service to the Hutt Golf Club culminating in his role as Men's Captain in 1997, followed by various roles over 13 years for the Wellington Golf Association, laterly Wellington Golf Incorporated.
Stints as a selector, team manager and coaching co ordinator were followed by terms as vice President, President and then as Chair of the Board post amalgamation and the formation of Wellington Golf Inc.
In these later roles Patrick lead the amalgamation process of the Wairarapa and Wellington associations, amalgamation of the Men's and Women's associations, and with Mark Brown, established the first Junior Academy programme.
Patrick completed his roles in 2011 and has stepped back a little to enjoy frequent rounds at his beloved Boulcott's Farm course, the latest rendition of this notable 125 year old club.
