Darae Chung a Finalist in Wellington Sports Awards
Darae Chung has been named today as one of 5 finalists in the Emerging Sportswoman category of the Wellington Sportsperson of the Year Awards.
With the recently completed Commonwealth games falling just inside the period of acheivement, this was a tough nomination to acheive. The other categories are littered with "Comm game" competitors, America's Cup sailors, World Champions and All Blacks, to name a few.
The 13 year old Wellington Provincial No.1 has had a great 2017 / early 2018, featuring prominantly in the latest swing of Charles Tour events, dominatiing the local tournament calendar with 6 wins in recent months and leading the Girls Interprovincial Team to a National title with a gripping extra hole sudden death playoff victory.
Wellington Golf has enjoyed consistent recognition at these awards in recent times, with Dan Hillier, Coach Kevin Smith (category winner) and the Men's National Interprovincial team all being finalists in the last few years, with previous Champions Julieanne Alvarez and Micheal Campbell contributing to a proud history of acheivement.
The prestigous event will be held on Wednesday June 20th.
